Brougham or Brewster Carriage

This antique carriage is in the middle of being refurbished. It was built around 1850. In its entire life it has never been reupholstered. I have started the process of rebuilding it. All the seats are leather. All the interior upholstery is broad cloth. It seats four as an enclosed carriage with a driver out in front. It is set up for a team of horses. The entire front of the carriage can be removed. This feature enables someone in the back seat to drive from the back. It is the type of carriage that a wealthy businessman would have owned. The wheels are heavy duty wooden spoke wheels which have been modified with a hard rubber base. It is a fifth wheel wagon giving the carriage excellent maneuverability. The glass windows are original. They are float glass windows with beveled edges. The windows open and close with a type of bell pull. This carriage would be perfect for someone who wants to finish up an exciting project either for personal use or as a possible museum piece.

1850 carriage glass & doors included
